A Pathway into Hospitality and Tourism

Hospitality offers a wide range of opportunities for people who enjoy working with others, creating experiences and being part of a dynamic industry. Creating Hope Africa is offering a free four-week Hospitality Foundations Training Programme in Velddrif, designed to give local people practical skills, workplace confidence and exposure to opportunities within the hospitality sector.

The goal is simple: to make hospitality skills development more accessible to local residents who want to build practical skills, explore career opportunities, gain industry experience or prepare for further training and employment.

You are invited to apply if you live in the Greater Velddrif and you:

  • Are interested in entering the hospitality sector?

  • A minimum Grade 9 certificate?

  • Want to gain practical, workplace-ready skills?

  • Want to build confidence in a professional environment?

  • Enjoy working with people and providing good customer service?

  • Are interested in hotels, restaurants, or guest services?

  • Want to explore further training or entrepreneurship opportunities?

Applicants must also have reliable transport, be available two days a week for four hours per day and commit to completing the full programme.

We understand that not everyone can complete an online form. Creating Hope Africa is exploring community-based support, including possible door-to-door assistance and in-person help through local partners. If you know someone who may be interested in the Hospitality Foundations Training Programme but cannot complete the form online, please encourage them to speak to a Creating Hope Africa representative via info@creatinghopeafrica.com.

Selection Process

The selection process will follow four stages to ensure fairness and transparency.

Step 1: Application

Complete Application form online or complete form at Velddrif Youth Café

Step 2: Screening

Applications screened based on criteria by a qualified panel of mentors

Step 3: Interview

Shortlisted candidates participate in a simple interview with the 2911 mentors

Step 4: Selection

Final selection announced at the 2911 Career Day on the 29th of April 2026

FREE Hospitality Foundations Training Programme

Creating Hope Africa is offering a FREE 4-week Hospitality Foundations Training Programme in Velddrif, designed to help local people develop practical hospitality skills, gain confidence in the workplace, explore career pathways and access opportunities for employment, further training and growth.

WHAT IS HOSPITALITY? Hospitality is the industry of welcoming, serving and caring for visitors, guests and customers through experiences like hotels, restaurants, events and guest services.

Modules: 3 | Facilitated hours: 32 | Duration: 8 weeks, 2 days p/w, 4 hours p/d | Optional workplace exposure: 12 additional hours
